LESSON 4.2: ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY IN AGRICULTURE
INTRODUCTION TO THE LESSON
This lesson has been created to provide a general overview on the concepts of sustainability in agriculture. It will provide an opportunity:
- To articulate the key elements of definition of sustainability in the Agriculture sector
- To reflect on the various issues such as:
- Environmental entry key – ie, resources protection – soils, water, biodiversity
- Economic entry key, ie, cost reduction by fertilizer reduction
- Social entry key, ie farmer’s network, community approach of agriculture, digital maker posture
- Cross sectorial approach, ie climate change, researches
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS LESSON
At the end of the training, students will be able:
- To demonstrate understanding of the key elements to sustainability definition
- To consider the various option and become able to make relevant choices for oneself
- To articulate some processes such as :
- protection of resources
- resource seeking
